Bonnie Platek
With a passion for good food, Bonnie spent many years as a successful restaurant owner. As an "adult onset" athlete, she eventually decided to pursue her other passion, fitness. She received her degree in Personal Training from the National Personal Training Institute, along with a certification as a Nutrition Consultant. She is in the processes of working on her certified coaching degree from ASEP.
Bonnie was a pace leader and running coach for the Chicago Area Runner's Association in 2002 and 2003, helping dozens of first
time marathoners achieve their dream of crossing the finish line of the Chicago Marathon. An avid runner, she is the veteran of 19 marathons, including one ultra marathon and one Boston qualifier. In 2005, she won 3rd place in her age group in the Chicago Area Runner's Association race circuit She no longer competes, but enjoys several low key races a year for charity, as well as recreational running, biking, and hiking.
Bonnie enjoys training a variety of clients. Her current clients include endurance athletes and teen athletes; as well as adults interested in stress relief, improved health, weight loss, and better strength. She believes in the body to mind connection that leads physically active people to be more mentally active and happier individuals. She also believes that an active lifestyle is
the fountain of youth and a strong body leads to a longer and happier life.
Bonnie lives in the far northwest suburbs of Chicago with her two boys, Tyler and Justin. She feels her active, healthy lifestyle helps her in the challenges she faces as a single mother of two teenage boys, the youngest with autism. She encourages both of her boys to follow her in the pursuit of a long, happy, and HEALTHY life.
Bonnie offers in home personal training in Johnsburg, McHenry, Spring Grove, Richmond, Antioch, Fox Lake, Wauconda, Lake Zurich, Kildeer, Barrington, Lake Forest, Vernon Hills, Libertyville, Mundelein, Hawthorn Woods, Barrington, and surrounding towns.
